Sierra Valley Preserve Nature Center
The Astronomical Society of Nevada will talk about the mysteries of the cosmos and our place in it, along with answering questions about astronomy, telescopes, and anything universe-related! Then we will adjust our eyes and look through the Society’s 20 and 24-inch telescopes and personal equipment!
What to bring: Warm layers and sturdy shoes.
What to expect: This event is perfect for all ages. It’s a great way to get a unique view of the sky, learn about the cosmos and check out types of equipment you might want for your own star viewing!
Parents must attend with children under 16. Please be sure to print and fill out the liability form you will receive in your confirmation email. If you are not attending with an adult and you are under 18, please email Jenna Holland at jholland@frlt.org

About the Sierra Valley Preserve and Nature Center
Since 2003, the Feather River Land Trust, The Nature Conservancy, and the Northern Sierra Partnership have worked together to create the Sierra Valley Preserve: 2,575 acres of protected land in California’s largest mountain valley.
This biodiversity hotspot is at the headwaters of the Wild and Scenic Middle Fork Feather River and a key stop along the Pacific Flyway. We are now establishing the Sierra Valley Preserve as a hub for nature-based recreation and learning where visitors and locals alike can experience the wonders of Sierra Valley’s beauty, cultural richness, and incredible biodiversity. Our plans include new trails, interpretive signage, picnic areas, and a new Nature Center featuring a variety of educational programs and activities—opening in 2024!
You can read all about the planning and history behind the project here, or check out our Nature Center Progress Updates to see all the construction milestones so far.
