What to expect: Local musician Sarah Hoxie will perform at the beginning of the night, then there will be a music and poetry open mic, so bring your nature-inspired songs and words to share! Wine, charcuterie and cheese served. In the tradition of Words and Music, we request a $3 donation at the door.
Interested in performing at the open mic? Let us know in the registration form below. Please make sure your song or poem is inspired by nature! We’d love to highlight the natural world during the open mic to celebrate the incredible surrounding landscape of Sierra Valley. Sign-ups will be limited to 10 people.
About Words and Music
WORDS & MUSIC has been brought to audiences in our region by Plumas Arts since 1989. The series began as part of a grant from the California Arts Council, which was designed to mobilize and support literary arts, and artists, in Plumas County.
About the Sierra Valley Preserve and Nature Center
Since 2003, the Feather River Land Trust, The Nature Conservancy, and the Northern Sierra Partnership have worked together to create the Sierra Valley Preserve: 2,575 acres of protected land in California’s largest mountain valley. This biodiversity hotspot is at the headwaters of the Wild and Scenic Middle Fork Feather River and a key stop along the Pacific Flyway.
With tremendous community support, we have established the Sierra Valley Preserve Nature Center as a hub for nature-based recreation and learning where visitors and locals alike can experience the wonders of Sierra Valley’s beauty, cultural richness, and incredible biodiversity. The new Nature Center and facilities include interactive exhibits, new interpretive trails and picnic areas, and year-round educational programs and activities.
